Exercise always seems to feel hard, is this normal?

Updated: Oct 6, 2023

Should exercise be hard?

Yes, it's normal to find exercise hard, especially if you're just starting out or have been inactive for a while.

Whilst you may have dreamed up ways of outsourcing your training this can't be done. You can't outsource the work and you can't outsource your results.

Exercise can be physically and mentally challenging. It requires discipline and motivation to stick with it. This is one reason people hire Personal Trainers or join private gyms such as JW Fitness.

Our training needs to be to be challenging in order to stimulate the muscles to ensure they adapt to the new demand and therefore get bigger/stronger/show improved endurance etc. If you want results you need to work outside of your comfort zone.

There are many reasons why training can be difficult. For example, you might feel tired, sore or out of breath during or after a workout. You might also find it hard to make time for exercise or to stay committed to a regular training routine.

However, it's important to remember that exercise has many benefits, including improved physical health, mental well-being and overall quality of life. Please, no matter what you choose just choose to be more active.

It's also possible to make exercise more enjoyable and manageable by finding activities that you enjoy, setting realistic goals and seeking support from friends, family or a community of like-minded people like the one at JW Fitness.
