Not having the time is a common reason people can’t get into a gym routine. Below we share some simple tips that you can put in place that will make sure you are getting the most out of every workout no matter how many times you train per week
Full Body Workouts
Full body workouts can be key to getting the most out of the gym when time is a precious commodity.
There are many reasons for this, for one they are quicker.
You can implement training methods such as supersets (where you pair two exercises together), tri-sets (where you pair 3 exercises together), or giant sets ( putting 4 exercises together) and either don’t rest or have minimal rest between the exercises. Helping you get more work done in the time you have.
Full-body workouts are also perfect to reduce DOMs (Muscle soreness). Any workout routine where you only work one area of the body per session can leave you feeling very sore for a few days after the session.

Fullbody training also allows you to train as many muscle groups as possible meaning if you are busy and miss a session or 2 you have still worked each muscle group. Due to the volume reduction per muscle group in a full body session it can reduce the discomfort felt after training.
Have a Plan
Write down your session on your phone, piece of paper or a workout logbook. Going in with a plan can help make a workout so much more effective, allowing you to get the most bang for your buck timewise.

Having a plan stops you from wandering around the gym not knowing what to do, trying to remember what you did last week or last workout. Not having a plan can leave you to overthink sessions meaning you lose motivation and leave the session early or procrastinate on going to your next session even when you have the time.
Sometimes even the most motivated person needs to be kept accountable, having a plan can help you do just that. You know where to start before you step foot in the gym. It helps to make you do even the exercises you know you need but don’t always want to do.
Track workouts
As above with the goal of having a plan, the next thing to do to make the most of your sessions and precious time is to track your lifts / sets / reps and weight etc. Use a logbook or an app on your phone to track your workouts.
You can also use this to write down your technique cues. This not only keeps you accountable but it can help you work towards your goals even when time is limited.
Also knowing what you have previously done allows you to push yourself to make progress by adding a couple of reps or even a slightly heavier weight. Pushing you every time towards your goals.
